Commonly Used Free Business Software
- OpenERP -- An open-source Enterprise Resource Planning suite of software.
- Ursa Information Systems -- Provides Operational Research (OR) and ERP consulting for small to medium sized Logistics, Manufacturing and Services businesses. Ursa uses analytics and engineering to build systems that enhance efficiency and competitiveness for client businesses. (Note: these services are NOT free).
- LibreOffice -- An office suite; can open and write Microsoft Office files.
- AVG -- Anti-virus software.
- PrimoPDF -- PDF creation software.
- OpenProj -- a free project management software similar to Microsoft Project
Web-based Software
These are web-based software. Many are available from your website hosting company free of charge. Please check with your website hosting company.
- Zen Cart -- A free e-commerce package -- take and track orders, manage customers, etc. Payments can go through a variety of payment processing firms such as Paypal and Authorize.net.
- Paypal -- Known for taking payments, but is a simple-to-use e-commerce system also.
- PHProjekt -- Project management system
- Joomla -- A website development platform that’s powerful and well-supported by both add-on developers and users.
- WordPress -- A blogging platform but very popular among website developers due to its simplicity and flexibility. Many websites are built on the WordPress platform even though they are not blogging sites.
